Día 23 · Florencia González y Gustavo Casenave

Trás recorrernos la ciudad en el suburbano, a las 10.30 llegamos a Newtown st. en el popular barrio de Queens. Allí, mate en mano, nos esperaba la saxofonista y compositora Florencia González, con quien compartimos una larga y amena charla acerca de su música, de la migración y de sus anécdotas en este país. Llegó la hora de comer y nos acompañó hasta un bar griego en el que apuntillamos los últimos detalles. 

Nos despedimos de ella para ir en dirección del Rio Hudson, donde nos habíamos citado con el pianista Gustavo Casenave, allí tras disfrutar de una hermosa vista de la ciudad y conversar con él y su familia, nos regaló unas originales piezas improvisadas al piano, un broche de oro para terminar la larga jornada y volver a casa con un buen sabor de boca.

Day 23 · Florencia González y Gustavo Casenave

After traveling across the city on the suburban, at 10:30 am we arrived in Newtown st. at the popular neighbourhood of Queens. There, waiting for us with a mate, was saxophonist and composer  Florencia González, with whom we shared a long and pleasant conversation about her music,about migration and her anecdotes in this country. The time for lunch arrived and she came with us to a Greek bar where we defined the last details.

We said gooodbye to her and then went to the Hudson River to meet with pianist Gustavo Casenave. After enjoying the beautiful city view and chatting with him and his family, he gave us some improvised pieces at the piano, a finishing touch to end a long work day and come back home very satisfied.
 

Día 21 · Beto Perrone

Hoy nos reunimos con Beto Perrone, uno de los anfitriones en New Jersey. Casi todas las mañanas fuimos a desayunar a su cafetería, la ROU Bakery, donde poco a poco nos fuimos convenciendo de que no podiamos dejar pasar el tiempo si entrevistarlo y poder compartir sus anécdotas con el mundo. 

Day 21 · Beto Perrone

Today we got together with Beto Perrone, one of the hosts in New Jersey. Almost every morning we went to his coffee shop for breakfast, ROU Bakery, where gradually we convinced ourselves that we couldn´t let the opportunity go by of an interview with him and share his anecdotes to the world.

Día 19 · Martín Giorgieff

A las 12:30 estabamos en la puerta del Kean University Conservatory of Music, donde nos habíamos citado con el tecladista Martín Giorgieff, también conocido como Sheffa. Allí le acompañamos en su atípica jornada laboral afinando los pianos de la escuela mientras contestaba nuestras preguntas e improvisaba en cada piano que caía en sus manos. Humilde y enamorado de la música nos proporcionó momentos muy interesantes para la película y para el recuerdo del equipo.

Day 19 · Martin Giorgieff

At 12:30 p.m we were at the door of the Kean University Conservatory of Music, where we were going to meet keyboard player Martín Giorgieff ,also known as Sheffa. There we joined his atypical working day, tuning the pianos at the school as he answered our questions and improvised with each piano that fell into his hands. Humble and an enamoured of music, he gave us some really interesting moments for the film and for the crew´s memories.

Día 18 · Fiesta en el Club Uruguayos Unidos

Ayer tuvimos una de las noches más emotivas en nuestra estancia en New Jersey. La maravillosa gente del Club Uruguayos Unidos de Elizabeth junto a la Comparsa Macú organizó un encuentro a beneficio de nuestro proyecto cinematográfico, donde actuó la banda Cuerdaluna y se juntaron tamborileros de las cuerdas Catherine 1034 y Macú para ofrecernos una noche para el recuerdo. 
Este grupo de personas, tanto en conjunto como individualmente nos están mostrando un apoyo del que estamos muy agradecidos y así es como desde aquí queremos manifestarlo.

Day 18 · Party at the Club Uruguayos Unidos

Yesterday we had one of the most moving nights of our stay in New Jersey. The wonderful people of the Club Uruguayos Unidos of Elizabeth organized, together with the Comparsa Macú, a benefit evening for our film project, where the band
Cuerdaluna performed and the tamborileros of Catherine 1034 and Macú got together to offer an evening to remember.
This group of people, as a whole and individually, showed us a support for wich we are very greatful and this is how we want to show it.

Día 15 · Jaurena y el Subway

Entrevistamos al maestro del bandoneón Raúl Jaurena en su casa, donde nos habló de su particular visión de la música y de la vida. Compartimos una gran conversación con el y con Marga Mitchell, su esposa, trás la cuál nos dirigimos a una de las estaciones de metro que se hayan bajo el City Hall del Downtown. Una vez allí, en uno de los enormes pasillos del Subway el maestro nos deleitó con una hermosa versión de "La última curda" adornada con la reverberación natural de la arquitectura del suburbano.

Day 15 · Jaurena and the Subway
We interviewed the Maestro of the bandoneon Raúl Jaurena at his home, where he talked about his particular vision on music and life. We shared a great conversation with him and his wife Marga Mitchell, after wich went to one of the subway stations below the City Hall of Downtown. Once there, in one of the subway´s large hallways, the Maestro delighted us with a beatiful version of "La última curda" embellished with the natural reverberation of the suburban arquitecture.

Día 12 · Steinway and Sons. con Polly Ferman

Nos introducimos en la imponente arquitectura del edificio de venta y fábrica de los pianos Steinway & Sons, donde nos hemos citado con una de las pianistas uruguayas que forman parte de la familia de la marca, Polly Ferman. Allí se sucede una de las entrevistas más atípicas y sorprendentes que llevamos por el momento. Trás la nota nos desplazamos a una de las salas de estudio del edificio donde nos regaló varias versiones en piano de Tangos y música latinoamericana.

Day 12  Steinway and Sons. with Polly Ferman

We entered to the impressive arquitecture of the building wich makes and sales the pianos for Steinway & Sons. That is where we had arranged to meet with one of the uruguayan pianists that are part of the brand´s family, Polly Ferman. There we had one of the most atypical and surprising interviews so far. After the interview we went to one of the building´s study rooms, where she gave us some piano versions of tangos and LatinAmerican music.

Día 11 · Filadelfia con Tomás Alcón

En esta ocasión nos desplazamos hacia el oeste, dirección Filadelfia, donde entrevistaremos al viejo cantante de tango Tomás Alcón. Después de dar un paseo por el centro de la ciudad junto al cantante terminamos en su casa, en un barrio a las afueras de la capital, allí nos deleitó con una conversación llena de interesantes anécdotas y una versión acapella de un clásico del tango. Un día muy emocionante que nos deja mucho material para la película y unos momentos que dificilmente olvidaremos.

Day 11  Philadelphia with Tomás Alcón

This time we went towards the West, to Philadelphia, where we will interview tango singer Tomás Alcón. After a walk downtown with the singer we ended up in his home, in a neighborhood outside the city. There he delighted us with a conversation full of interesting anecdotes and an a capella version of a classic tango. A very exciting day that leaves us with lots of material for the film and some moments we will hardly forget.
 

Día 10 · Nando Michelín

Gabriel Ferreira, nuestro anfitrión en New Jersey, aprovecho su día libre para transportar y acompañar al equipo hasta Manhattan, más especificamente hasta la University Settlement, en 184 Eldridge Street, donde Nando Michelín, pianista y docente nos invitó al concierto que ofrecía junto al cuarteto del baterista brasilero Rogério Boccato. Allí conversamos con él y disfrutamos de las cualidades musicales del uruguayo y sus compañeros. 

Day 10 · Nando Michelín

Gabriel Ferreira, our host in New Jersey, took his day off to take the crew to Manhattan, to the University Settlement, at 184 Eldridge Street, where Nando Michelín, pianist and teacher, invited us to the concert he offered with Brazilian drummer Rogério Boccato and his quartet. There we chatted with him and enjoyed his musical qualities and those of his colleagues.
